1969) was king of the Buganda region from 1939 to his death,
and President of Uganda from 1963 to 1966.His full name was
Sir Edward Frederick William David Walugembe Mutebi Luwangula
Mutesa ll but was often nicknamed King Freddie by the western
press. As king he was also leader of the Baganda ethnic group
who happens to be my father. Was a very strong beliver of
Christ, and worshipped in Church without fail.
The 22 Canonized Martyrs of Uganda
From the background of Christian missionaries and their
invitation by my great great grandfather, my heart goes out in
search for such a great heritage. King Mwanga who at one time
was a Christian by the names of Daniel Muwanga but later
changed to lslam, my great grand-father during his regime 22
Christians now Uganda martyrs were executed.

King Mwanga ll
By 1890 The Number Of Buganda Had Turned to Christianity.
Later, King Mwanga. Became Angry When Christian Joseph Mukasa,
Corrected Him For The Way He Was Living.
A Group Of Christians And Their Anglican Bishop was executed.
King Mwanga's Anger Turned Into Resentment And Hatred For
Joseph Mukasa And His Religion. A Few Of The King's Ambitious
Officers Fuelled His Fears With Lies. Joseph Mukasa Was
Beheaded On November 18, 1885. The Persecution Had Begun. And
Before It Was Over, A Hundred People had been Killed.
Twenty-Two Of Them Would Be Declared Saints, Thus Uganda
Martyrs.
The construction of this present cathedral above was
commissioned by my grandfather King Daudi Chwa 11. That was
King Mutesa l’s palace where he wrote the letter to invite the
missionaries Now known as the kasubi tombs, burial grounds for
kings
